‘Newton’ trailer: Rajkummar Rao is at his best in this political black comedy
A brand new trailer of Rajkumar Rao starrer ‘Newton’ dropped online on Tuesday afternoon. From the looks of it, this political black comedy, directed by Amit V. Masurkar, that features Rajkummar as Newton, a rookie clerk on election duty in a conflict-ridden jungle of Chhattisgarh, looks intriguing. Newton tries his best to conduct free and fair voting despite the apathy of security forces, and the looming fear of an attack by Maoist rebels. What happens in this pursuit, forms the crux of the story.
The two and a half minute trailer sees the story unfold layer by layer starting with the scene where Newton and his family comes to see his prospective bride. With this story shot in the jungles of Chhattisgarh in central India, ‘Newton’ couldn’t be more Indian in its taste for movie aficionados at a gala as prestigious as the 67th Berlin International Film Festival, says the film’s lead actor Rajkummar Rao. The film is scheduled to release on September 22, 2017.
